Australian-born composer Russell Sarre has been a professional freelance composer for the past 15 years. His music has been performed around the globe from The White House to London’s West End; Edinburgh Fringe Festival to the Shanghai Oriental Arts Center. He has composed music for film, theatre, musical theatre, dance, opera and the concert stage and has been performed by, among others, The Haba String Quartet, Bad Homburg Kammerorchester, Jena Philharmonie, Jugendsinfonie Orchester Ahrensburg, and the English Concert Singers. Sarre has taught at the Shepherd School of Music, Texas A&M, the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts, Eastern Mediterranean University (Cyprus), and Lone Star College-CyFair. He has also taught and advised on early music education in the Kindergarten system in Bad Homburg, Germany. Additionally, he co-produced and presented the award-winning music-education radio program Mind Your Music and The Basics in Austin, Texas, for KMFA. Sarre holds a D.M.A. and an M.M. in composition from Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music and a B.Mus. in classical music (composition and classical guitar) from the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts’ Conservatorium of Music.
